Economic
Impact
"AZFRP
will provide 600 jobs and inject $170 million each year in
Northern Arizona's economy for the next 20 to 30 years. These
jobs will not depend on the uncertainties of government
subsidies or temporary stimulus, but will be sustained over the
long term by the robust and simple economics of operating the
most modern OSB plant in the U.S. and the only OSB plant in
the West - from Texas to California and from Canada to
Mexico, to serve the nation's highest growth housing market,
even during slow construction times."

The economic
impact analysis was spurred by regional community leaders
wanting a deeper understanding of how their community economies
might be affected by AZFRP’s OSB operations. The study was
conducted by researchers with the Bureau of Business & Economic
Research, a service unit for The Center for Business Outreach
located in The W. A. Franke College of Business at Northern
Arizona University. The process involved a scientific
determination of the economic impact using input-output (I-O)
modeling, along with the economic modeling software IMPLAN. |
