Southwest OSB market
From 1990 to 2000 the Southwest has seen some of the fastest population growth rates in the country. Nevada ranked first in rate of population growth in the U.S. with 66.27%; Arizona, second with 39.98%; and Utah, fourth with 29.62.
Projections indicate that the southwest will continue to be a fast-growth area with, among the top five fastest-growing states between 2000 and 2030: Nevada, with 114% growth; Arizona, with 109%; and Utah, with 56%, while California is expected to gain more than 12 million people between 2000 and 2030, over twice the 5.6 million that Arizona is expected to gain during the same period. Demographic marketing researches project that the southwest will experience almost a quarter of the entire projected U.S. household growth, with approximately one out of every four new houses built over the next five years in the U.S. located in Arizona or one of its neighboring states:

The southwest absorbs almost a quarter of the entire U.S. market: 7.5 billion SqFt of OSB annually Yet, due to the historical closure of the public southwest forest to the industry, the closest OSB manufacturer is located over 1,200 miles away:
